BITCHES

We do not keep bitches for the sole purpose of breeding. They are all fed well, exercised and trained regularly, and have the best quality of life we can provide.

The bitches we do keep back to eventually breed from are here for a reason: excellent bloodlines, nice quality of work, and the potential to be good mothers to healthy pups, fit for purpose.

We often buy in young bitches to train up, and if they appear to possess the qualities we'd like to see in our breeding programme, we may have a litter out of them. Others are sold on to suitable working homes.

Most of the bitches listed here are from our own bloodlines, but we do add talented individuals in from time to time, to add new blood and widen the gene pool!

Those we use for breeding are all eye-tested, most are screened for Border Collie-relevant diseases (e.g., CEA, TNS), and some are hip scored. You can find out more about each individual bitch's health testing results on their webpages.

We only breed off of dogs that are sound of mind and body, with excellent temperaments and they must be showing well on sheep. Good conformation is important to a working dog's longevity, but overall looks are unimportant to us. It's what's between their ears that matters!

All Killiebrae dogs are sold in good faith. If a genetically-related health problem arises, we will do our best to resolve the situation to your satisfaction.

Puppies with the Killiebrae prefix are ISDS registered, microchipped, and insured if sold within the UK. Having an ISDS registration number will allow the dog to be registered with the Kennel Club, if you so choose.

We are more than happy to offer advice regarding the dog throughout its life, and we really enjoy receiving feedback and news about the dogs we've bred.
