It has been quite the summer here at Raise Lodge. We held our inaugural 3-day Championship trial at the end of July, with over 50 dogs running on the Friday and Saturday, and 16 in the final on Sunday. The overall feedback was very positive, and so we look forward to holding it again in 2020.
All of our lambs have either been sold at market or selected as future breeding stock, so the hectic activity of spring and summer has given way to the quiet lull of autumn.
Tupping time is around the corner, so we are buying in tups and planning out which females will go to which tup. Very exciting, as all of this groundwork has a direct impact on the level of success for our next lambing!
Derek and Killiebrae Jett, a home-bred son of Finn and Lyn, have been on fire on the trials circuit. Jett has won four Open trials this year so far, against stiff competition.
Lyn has also held her own, by getting into the English team for the World Sheep Dog Trial 2020, to be held at Castle Howard, York. She placed 7th on the third day of the English National, narrowly missing out on a team place for the International.
